Here is my contribution to the 2017/2018 ‘oneTree Exhibit’, titled ‘Indicator Species’. I carved this abstract tree, with a pacific tree frog in it, from a large section of a branch that weighted around 500 lbs when I started. I removed around 300 lbs of wood to make 'Indicator Species'. Trees are often a microcosm for the larger ecosystems they inhabit and a variety of flora and fauna make their home on, and in, a tree. Pacific Tree Frogs, are one such dweller that also serve as an indicator species; their health is suggestive of the health of the entire forest.
